What happened to the summer?

I’m not complaining, but this year there wasn’t very much of a summer.

It started out being in the nineties during the first week of June.

We had three days of nineties and then it went back into the sixties and the seventies. It is now the end of July and we have had a total of ten days in the nineties, ten days in the eighties and the rest of the summer has been in the seventies and upper sixties. We only had our air conditioning running less than ten times this year. I’m starting to wonder if I didn’t waste my money by having the air conditioning serviced this year. I knew that I had to have the servicing done because normally summer is in the mid to upper eighties with the occasional ninety. I hate it when it is really hot and we need the air conditioning both day and night every day of summer. The air conditioning would be running and if it was turned off, it felt like there was something missing in the house. It is amazing how we get used to the sounds in the house. The sound of the air conditioning and the furnace just seem normal to us. Now, it will be just the opposite. If we do need to turn the air conditioning on, the noise is going to be so loud that it will drive us nuts for awhile. In reality, however, I am hoping that a true summer doesn’t come around this year. I am enjoying not having the higher energy bills and the need to have my television up high so I can hear over the AC unit.
