Living where the people I was with and I do, there is always the potential for the effects of a tropical storm to deal with.
The people I was with and I have always been fairly lucky if a named storm was in the area.
Usually the people I was with and I might get the remnants of the system however never had to endure the full strength of one of these big storms. So, this is why I staid house with the pets when the last storm went through. While the people I was with and I reMained fairly unscathed, it was quite a harrowing experience. The house sustained mainly minor destruction due to the high winds. However, I didn’t realize how the force of those sustained winds could affect my Heating, Ventilation and A/C components. The outside device got through just fine. However, the ducts in the attic didn’t honorableso well. The terrible thing was, I didn’t initially realize it until it was a bit too late. The pressure changes and the wind moved the house more than I thought was possible. This resulted in the HVAC ducts being moved around as the attic and roof heaved. This resulted in gaps between the joints of the HVAC ducts. These gaps were soon infiltrated by all kinds of bugs. It was definitely not a pretty picture. Fortunately, my Heating, Ventilation and A/C corporation was able to schedule a sibling corporation to come out and thoroughly wash our ducts. I was appalled by the amount of trash and debris that this crew was pulling from our ducts. After the ducts were cleaned, the crew professionally resealed all the joints that had been affected. I’m thankful the storm didn’t rip off our roof but I was not so ecstatic about what it did to my HVAC ducts.
