My Grandpa always told me that when you buy something, you get what you pay for… When I was a kid, I never had a clue what he was talking about.
It just never made any sense to me! Now that I’m older, though, I can really see what Grandpa meant! The best example of this is when I had to buy a new a/c last summer. The central a/c that was previously in my home had completely conked out. I know it was a really old a/c, plus I guess it had just run its course. When the air conditioning system went out, it was in the middle of the summer. The temperature outside was in the high eighties that month and I can remember being just angry in the heat. So, instead of waiting around and trying to get a good quality HVAC specialist out to my house to service the air conditioning system, I went with the quickest and cheapest HVAC company in town. They were able to come out very fast because they didn’t have any other appointments lined up. I know that should have been our first clue! The HVAC specialists didn’t charge me very much for fixing our a/c. I know it’s because they didn’t really spend that much time on it! And I found out after I got the bill that it was because they didn’t really service it! The air conditioning system worked for a couple of weeks after they came to the home and then it quit on me again.
