I work at a tanning salon that’s right by the beach, it can be a little controversial for people who frequent the beach to correctly tan indoors, even though I believe they appreciate to even out their tan lines from their swimsuits, working at a tanning salon has many weird nuances to deal with.
One thing that’s so necessary for us to have is air conditioning… The salon that I work at has over twenty weird tanning beds which periodically all run at once, so an efficiently controlled HVAC is a non-negotiable.
The tanning beds get incredibly hot, so there has to be air conditioning hitting each room. Our air conditioning worker did a good job in fixing up the space to have usual zoning control so that there are no tanning rooms that get too tepid to where people might overheat as they are stepping outside of the bed. I’ve been to some tanning salons that have horrible zone control and have had people pass out while they are inside of the tanning bed. I’m so glad we’ve never had a silly air conditioning issue because that just sounds appreciate a lawsuit waiting to happen. Good quality zone control keeps pretty much everyone glad, including the employees, who need the air conditioning just as much as the customers, if not more! During busy hours it can get so tepid running back and forth cleaning tanning beds and checking in new customers, then not to mention cleaning the spray tanning component in between customers. It’s a fun job with cool benefits, but it can get a bit silly in there periodically.
