Worst of all, I think I have finally met my match with the air conditioning system in the building
Sometimes, you don’t recognize how good you have it, until suddenly, you are in different circumstances. I was quite used to the comfort my workplace provided. I once worked in a high rise downtown with comfortable and spacious offices, big windows with a beautiful view, and shops and restaurants on the ground floor. I also really enjoyed the temperature in the offices I worked in. I am “hot-blooded” as my mother would say, so I like a nice and cool room. Coworkers would always ask, “Hey, how can you wear shorts and not need a jacket in here, it’s freezing!” I would always shrug and say I was comfortable. Even downstairs, when I would grab lunch at one of the vendors in the mall, the temperature suited me just fine. I wasn’t even thinking about these things very deeply until the day that I found myself in a new office space. My team was moved to a different building nearby. It is not nearly as enjoyable to work in to say the least. The new office is boring and has a very sterile, hospital-like feel to it. There are not very many windows, so there is no good view and you have to travel a lot farther to find a place for lunch. Worst of all, I think I have finally met my match with the air conditioning system in the building. That is to say, it is genuinely freezing in there, even for me! I can’t even imagine how my co-workers must feel, since they were cold in the old place to begin with! I don’t know if I will be able to acclimate to these circumstances. I need to track down whoever controls the thermostat.
