The furnace was already installed into my home when my family moved in.
We aren’t exactly sure how old the heating system is.
We’ve lived in the house for fifteen years and the furnace wasn’t new when we started. I’ve been very conscientious about replacing air filters and scheduling professional maintenance every fall. The furnace has been quite reliable. However, there have been several minor issues that necessitated repairs in the last couple of years. I’ve noticed that the air capacity has diminished. I’ve needed to raise the thermostat setting by several degrees. Although the furnace runs just about non-stop during the winter, the living environment often feels slightly chilly on particularly cold nights. In my local area, the winter is definitely the longest season, typically lasting for eight straight months. We see temperatures down to twenty-five degrees below zero, and the wind chill makes the conditions feel even colder. The heating system is essential and has a big impact on the comfort, health and efficiency of the household. It significantly impacts my budget. I think it’s time to install a new furnace. I am reluctant to make such a big investment when the current furnace continues to operate, but I know that a higher-efficiency, modern model would reduce expenses and pay for itself. Plus, the new furnace would improve our comfort. I would like to take advantage of some of the latest features, such as zone control, adaptable-speed technology and wifi access. The new furnace would also be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. If anything were to go wrong, the cost of the replacement parts would be covered.
