All day long I sit in a cubicle, at a desk, and stare at a computer monitor.
That is not 100% correct, I don’t stare 1 screen, I stare at three screens, because there are too many numbers to display on just one.
I watch the traffic patterns for our myriad websites, and report issues whenever needed. On the one hand, it is not a very exciting job and very little happens, on the other hand I have to stare at the screen regardless. This can make a person very sleepy, even exhausted, even though there is little physical exertion. Excess cooling is one of the things I have found will keep me awake and focused. Coffee is another one, but for best results I like to slam a bunch of coffee will sitting under the air vent and having the AC just rain down on me. Sometimes the cooling is too much and I start to shiver, but if I don’t keep it super cold then I will start to get groggy and my work will suffer. When I am at home all bets are off, and I don’t need to run the AC very much because I don’t need extra help staying awake. I guess that’s the difference of being at home relaxing instead of in a cubicle being bored and trying to use the air conditioner to keep yourself awake. So I tell you all this by way of suggestion, so that the next time you find yourself drowsing off when you shouldn’t, try maxing out the AC
