We don’t end up having to use the air conditioner as much when it’s raining outside.
Before I moved to the current state of living, my hometown rarely got any rain throughout the year. We had problems with droughts consistently as well. And when you have droughts, you also run into wildfires. I dreamed of moving to some place where there would actually be rainfall throughout the year. However, I didn’t expect to move up to a place where it would rain non-stop. And that’s exactly what happened when I lived in the Pacific Northwest for a handful of years. It was extremely raining all of the time and I wouldn’t even know what to do about it. Now I live in a region where the weather is fairly mixed throughout the year. We get a lot of hot weather after spring kicks in between March and early may. That’s when the temperature starts to get really hot and the sun gets intense outside. The house starts to naturally warm up and we end up having to turn the air conditioner on. Whenever it finally does rain, especially in the late summer, it’s really calm and peaceful on the outside of the house. You can hear it hit the roof top and blanket the windows. When it rains it naturally cools down the house as well. We don’t end up having to use the air conditioner as much when it’s raining outside. This year we’ve been getting a ton of rainfall in the early summer when we usually get in the late summer. It got so bad that it actually flooded one of the neighborhoods down the road. As long as the rain just cools off the house and doesn’t damage our property, I’m happy for it to keep lowering our energy bill with our air conditioner.
