I have really good memories of going to garage sales with my parents when I was a little kid.
We used to go on Saturday mornings and my siblings and I were all given about $5 each that we could spend on practically anything we wanted.
I usually look for toys while my brothers would look for sports equipment. I loved getting Hot Wheels cars as a little kid regardless of whether or not I received them brand new or used. Some of the best ones in my collection came from yard sales and garage sales. Often kids of those families get sick of those toys and they would end up on one of the tables to be sold. I also like collecting GI Joe action figures and Star Wars action figures as well. Nowadays I have a completely different mind set when I go to garage sales on the weekends. For instance, I recently purchased a quality space heater from a garage sale. It had only been used a few times as well. I’m hoping I can find a window air conditioner at a garage sale if I just keep looking. I know that they’re popular in this area and I’m bound to find one at a garage sale sooner or later. I still go each weekend to one in my neighborhood and in the hopes that I’ll eventually find that window air conditioner that I’ve been pining for. I have a pottery studio in my backyard that’s basically just a tool shed with a kiln inside. I want to put a window air conditioner in there so that I can work on my clay hobby when it’s hot outside. Right now it gets so hot in that shed that it’s miserable trying to do pottery whenever the temperature is any warmer than 75 degrees outside.
