A lot of people look forward to the summer season. Especially if you live in a Northern climate where it’s freezing for 6 to 7 months of the year, and you know the summer brings lush green colors to the outdoor environment. But I live in the south and it just gets hotter and hotter as the year goes on. By the time the spring season starts to come to a close and we transition into summer, I’m already feeling miserable. And this is weeks before we reach the peak of the summer season in July and August. Since I like hiking a lot too, it gets even less desirable to be in the woods when it’s 95 degrees outside. But I still end up going hiking even when it’s hot. I just feel more miserable and I sweat like crazy. That’s why it’s a good idea to bring extra water with you if you’re going to insist on hiking in the summer like I do. Right now I’m frustrated because it’s the middle of July and I have to wait a week to get my air conditioner fixed. The HVAC supplier is telling me that they are backed up with other air conditioner repairs for weeks. It’s hard for me to think about this knowing that I have no other way to get cold air in my house. It’s not like a furnace repair where you can go buy a space heater for $30 and prevent yourself from freezing to death. When your air conditioning system goes down, you basically have to use a portable air conditioner or a window air conditioner to lower your indoor temperature. And that is a bare minimum $300 expense.
