I constantly wanted to become a chef.
But, it’s not all roses & fine food.
Working in a busy home office can test every ounce of patience in your being. When I completed my high university education, the next step was culinary university. However, I wanted a split to travel so I took a gap year to go to Europe with some friends. We’d been working & saving all summers since my pal and I were 15, & the trip was worth it. I saw different sites & enjoyed amazing cuisine which made me even more convinced I wanted to become a chef. I joined & completed culinary university, then it was off to the working world. My first task was at a local pizzeria, & it was a nightmare since the site had the worst heating & cooling. The owners were of Spanish origins, & they made excellent food that the community enjoyed. But, they did little to make the site comfortable, especially when it came to heating & cooling… One summer, it was so warm outside, & twice as awful in the home office, so my pal and I staged a rest in. No one had bothered to do repair on the AC, & the home office felt like being inside of a heater. My associate and I complained about the home office being too warm endlessly, however the owners rarely listened until the head chef led the rest in. That’s when the Heating & A/C expert showed up to ease our discomfort by sorting out the a/c problems. She suggested the owners had to invest in a commercial Heating & A/C system if they wanted the establishment to thrive. Otherwise, it would be difficult eating or working there separate from familiar a/c in the middle of a heat wave.
