I finally figured out how to replace my own thermostat

After a few weeks of struggling with the thermostat in my house, I finally managed to install a new smart thermostat.

  • I was tired of my old digital thermostat.

From the moment that I purchased the digital thermostat, I regretted my decision. Sure, the dial thermostat was old and outdated. Sure, I couldn’t program the heating and the air conditioner with my dial thermostat. I couldn’t set a schedule with my old thermostat. However, the format of the digital thermostat was downright confusing, and I was not a huge fan of the digital thermostat. I used it for years, but when my wife finally purchased a smart thermostat for me, I was completely ecstatic. The controls on the actual thermostat were simple, and I could use my phone to adjust the HVAC units. The only problem with the smart thermostat was that it needed five thermostat wires to run properly. I had no idea when I purchased the thermostat that I only had four wires in the old thermostat. I had two options to get my new thermostat working. I could either call an HVAC technician to have them run a fifth wire to my thermostat, or I could purchase an adapter that would add a new wire for me. However, hiring an HVAC technician would have been very expensive, and the adapter only cost $12. I purchased the adapter, and I proceeded to take apart the old thermostat and the HVAC unit. Sadly, the diagram that came with the adapter didn’t match my HVAC unit, and I was very confused. After watching multiple videos, I finally installed the thermostat, and I am so excited to start using it.
