I do not think what I was thinking when I signed up for a weekend horseback riding trip; I thought it would be a lot of fun.
It was a lot of fun, but, it was also the most of work I have ever done in my entire life! Before this trip, I have only ever ridden a horse for a maximum of more than one hours on the trail; That’s why, after about 3 hours on that weekend trip, I was ready to call it quits.
I was hot, exhausted, & my knees & back hurt. I did not quit though because there were riders older than myself and others & they weren’t complaining. I did not want to be the baby of the group so I toughed it out. By the time every one of us stopped at the cabins, that first night, I could have slept on the ground. Thankfully, that wasn’t necessary. Both of us stopped at cabins that had beds all made up & the air conditioner running. I was never so glad to hear an air conditioner as I was that evening, then when I opened my home door, a blast of freezing air hit myself and others & it was all I could do to force myself to stay awake long enough to take a shower & eat a little bit of the dinner that had been prepared, and everybody else looked about as exhausted as I did & no 1 talk while in the dinner. Both of us all just ate as fast as possible & went back to our air-conditioned cabins to sleep, however on Sunday, every one of us had to leave our air-conditioned cabins & head back out onto the trail for another day of riding. I could not wait to get back cabin to my cool & comfortable home & resting on my couch instead of on a horses back.
