Acclimating to a colder temperature

I have constantly lived in a swelteringly hot region of the country! Don’t get myself and others wrong, I love the sunlight and like trips to the beach.

That’s why I’m having conflicted feelings about where I have moved recently.

I moved northwest, to a state that is much cooler. I can tell you that the 1 thing I easily prefer is that a/c is not needed nearly as much. Where I came from, a/c was nearly a matter of survival, especially in the summer, as you can well imagine. It was often too hot and muggy to even open the windows at night! I constantly kept my thermostat no higher than 69, although I often set it to 79 at night, because I love to sleep nice and cool. Now, it is odd to me, but in my up-to-date home, I can leave my windows open while I was in the day and get a lovelyly cool breeze and fresh air. The air-conditioning does not even need to be on. In fact, by the time October rolls around, it is heating I will need more than anything. December is the coldest month here, and single-digit hot and cold temperatures are common at night. It will actually be a up-to-date experience having to rely on a good gas furnace as opposed to a good a/c unit. I just bet that I will not have to use much heating, because I am warm-blooded, as they say, although I cannot say for sure yet. In the meantime, I will like this surprisingly cool summer, and prefer the fact that I rarely need to use the a/c.
