Heating and A/C Copper thieves is an actual real thing. In fact, I can remember the absolutely first time I heard about someone stealing copper but that was over 20 years ago. Our town had an empty plant that had closed down. Come to find out, theives had gone into the dormant plant and began ripping out all the copper they could find. I even recall thinking this was a pretty desperate move. I had no clue that this would happen end up happening close to home, however the absolutely latest in thievery, in this community, is the theft of copper from Heating and A/C condenser units. There are of bands of people who target homes they guess are empty and then ripp every piece of copper they can find from the condenser unit. It must be getting actually desperate out there. I can’t begin to imagine there could be all that much currency on the black market for stolen copper tubing. Yet, thieves keep stealing it. One night, they just about got my Heating and A/C condenser. Living alone and working from home, I tend to keep some fairly odd minutes. The criminal must have thought I was asleep or gone since nearly all the lights were out. I was my computer when I heard something glance off the outside of the house. I slid next to that wall and could clearly hear there were people out there. I didn’t want to spook them so, I left the lights off as I called the police. The cops rolled up all silent and ended up catching 3 guys red handed. Thankfully, the had just gotten the cabinet off as the cops busted them.
