There was one of these rooms in the house I grew up in.
I’m talking about the junk room of course. In my parent’s house, it was a room full of my mom’s special keepsakes. Upon inspection, I found it to be just a bunch of junk she simply couldn’t part with. But she claimed that this room was only good for storage because the HVAC wasn’t good enough in there for guests. Well, I own my very own beautifully appointed and nicely HVAC controlled house. A junk room is growing right under our roof. My wife has a similar problem of letting stuff go that my mom still has. She has been staking out the downstairs guest room as her junk room. Weirdly ironic that she too is trying to use the HVAC as a ready reason to fully go junk room in our home. Now, it’s true that the entire section of the house where she is building her junk room is a bit warmer than the rest of the house. So, I called in the HVAC people to please save me from letting the temperature disparity be the reason we have a junk room. The solution was having our existing HVAC converted to a zone control HVAC system. Now, there are 6 independent zones throughout the house. That means we have thermostats that can work to customize whatever room or section of the house that needs it. My wife raised the white flag and the junk room progression was stopped in its tracks.
