Leaking refrigerant causes problems

When the two of us first moved into the house, the two of us were a bit concerned about the age and appearance of the heating/cooling unit.

It’s a packaged component installed outside the house, where it’s subjected to the weather.

The plan endures intensive heat and humidity, rain, cold, lizards running in and out and lots of debris, such as sticks and leaves. Despite the unattractive, somewhat rusty exterior, the packaged managed our temperature control. The operation made quite a bit of noise, and the house wasn’t always perfectly sizzling in the winter. The cooling capacity was excellent. We had no complaints until a single day in the middle of June, I noticed the house heating up. I held our hand up to the vent in the ceiling and felt tepid air pouring out. I checked out the control component to make sure the plan was set to cooling mode. Everything seemed to be just fine. I finally called a licensed Heating and A/C corporation to come to the house and look over the system. My hustand and I fully expected to need to update the whole system. However, when the Heating and A/C corporation took the component apart, she found a significant buildup of debris. She also discovered a small refrigerant leak. She said that the plan could have been leaking refrigerant for a truly long time. She proposed spending just $200 to add and charge refrigerant. She warned that it would provide a temporary fix. The maintenance could have lasted us 10 hours or 10 years. A little less than a year later, the two of us faced the same issues again. This time, the two of us decided to update the air condiioner, rateher than waste money on another temporary fix.
