When I pulled up the blinds this morning, I was so happy to see the clear blue sky and feel the warmth of the sun gently kissing my face.
I sat down on the couch to have my coffee and opened the window to let in the sunshine and fresh air.
It was a cold morning, yet the sun gave me just the right amount of warmth I needed to be comfortable. I find that most people rely on heating systems like furnaces, boilers, and electric heaters to keep them warm, when often there’s a free and readily available source of heat from the sun. The heat from the sun can be an excellent alternative to heating systems because it provides natural and sustainable heat that doesn’t require any energy or resources to produce. Also, it’s a great way of saving money on HVAC system utility bills. Moreover, the sun is an excellent source of Vitamin D, which is important for bone health. People overly rely on whole-home heating and other artificial heating devices in the winter months, and as a consequence, they suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. This is easily avoidable by instead opening up the curtains and letting the sun work its magic whenever they are feeling chilly. This measure can help reduce reliance on heating systems and benefit both their health and the environment. I recently installed solar panels in my house, so even when I am relying on HVAC equipment and boilers, I’m still using the free energy of the sun. I live in a very sunny place, so this was a good choice for me to make in order to power my heating and cooling units. While not always practical, the heat from the sun is an excellent alternative to heating systems in certain situations.
