He gets so lost in them and it seems he enjoys it.
I love it when my grandson comes over to my place. He is always energetic and excited to see me. I know in a way my place makes him feel a bit safer because my place provides warmth that his parent’s house doesn’t really have. They actually do have a warm house but the walls are so thin that they need added insulation. The HVAC tech came to their house and said everything is fine with their heating and cooling system. The thing that my house provides is a warm but wonderful fireplace. No one in the family has one besides me. I make sure it’s taken care of as well so it can run all year round. I don’t usually use my fireplace during the summer but on a chilly night, it will be utilized. Whenever my grandson comes over, he walks straight to the living room and sits on the couch, just watching the flames of the fireplace. He gets so lost in them and it seems he enjoys it. I don’t really question it at all because he is at peace and that is what matters most. When he is over and plops down on my couch to watch the flames, he falls asleep in less than 10 minutes. We don’t really talk much the night he comes over until the morning. I find it kind of funny that the only words he says to me when he comes over are, “Hi grandpa.” There is nothing in addition to that but I don’t care, I’m just happy to see that he wants to come over.
