As a middle school librarian, most of my work centers around working in the media arts center to help other instructors.
I am consistently helping other teachers with art projects or crafts, and the media center has a couple of machines to make life easier for us and them.
With this small laminator and big laminator available to us, we have this die-split machine and several multi-use printers as well. Since we can make banners that are 3 ft long and 5 ft wide, the laminator is a fan favorite in the arts center. I do love feeling that distinct warmth coming from the pages as they come out of the machine! Unfortunately, I’ve been deprived of that warmth as of a few weeks ago. See, the laminator was broken down by an unknown perpetrator. We only had the small one to work with for a while, and that small laminator can fit up to an 8×10 sheet of paper – nothing more. There’s not much you can do with that limitation! While there were no shortages of items that were to be sent to a printer if they required lamination, I called the professional to task on the laminator knowing that we couldn’t make this work for long. They were supposed to show up a few days later, but no one showed up for over a week! I had left many messages before the owner of the supplier finally called me, and we talked about this concern with the laminator before the company owner agreed to come by himself later that week. A few hours before the appointment, the business owner called just to confirm his appointment. I was thrilled that he stuck to his word, and that we had our laminator restored to working order within the week.
