If your whole house was full of plants, you likely would not need an HVAC system
I love plants for many reasons. They provide comforting, mood-boosting, and fresh air benefits. And they need us too, it is a near perfect relationship. I read that having a carbon dioxide fan can double or triple a plant’s yearly growth just like having extra lights would. But for my regular house plants—an aloe at the very least, I just keep their leaves clean, keep them out of the direct path of the air conditioner, and occasionally move them around a little bit so that air (specifically oxygen) can reach the leaves. In fact, every part of the plant respirates. We just have our lungs; they have stomata in leaves and flowers and lenticels in their stems and trunks. Having a fan blowing on them helps with this respiration process. It is similar to us calling an HVAC provider and having the technician come out to help move the air throughout the vents and ductwork in our homes so that we can breathe in that conditioned goodness. Plants do not like to be too cool either, so having that fan lightly blowing the heated air from the furnace in the winter time does wonders also. And as for moving them around in various places throughout the house, they need the sun in order to do their respiration process just like we need the sun for our heating and cooling needs. If your whole house was full of plants, you likely would not need an HVAC system. A few fans and a few hundred house plants would keep the room temperature perfectly cool and humid, similar to a rain forest, but less hot. No need for a furnace either if you have enough windows for those heating rays.
