I had to evacuate my apartment last week. There was a hurricane that was said to be a category 4. My apartment was in the highlighted zone that was said to get damage. This was because I was only a few miles away from the coastal regions and then my section was evacuated 2 days before the storm hit. The storm surge waters were honestly bad, even before the storm arrived. That’s one of the reasons why they forced evacuations so early. There was water all along the street and people had left their doors unlocked in a hurry. When I came back almost a week later, there was hardly any damage inside of the house. I considered myself honestly lucky, because some of our coastal neighbors had significant repairs to be had. But, unfortunately, someone burglarized my whole apartment while I was gone. I was devastated to come back home to find all of my electronics and my furniture was missing. I didn’t have a security method at the time, but I now do. After this incident I of course contacted the police, but they couldn’t do anything. The storm washed away any evidence of the theft that happened. My family and I called a local security dealership the honestly next day. I then got a modern security method installed with advanced monitoring features. The security method has two video cameras that capture motion. Next, I have motion detector alarms inside of the home, which can be activated when no person is there. I doubt I will run into this type of issue again. But I do feel better about it now.
