Switching to tankless water heating

I recently decided to make the switch from a conventional water heater to a tankless alternative.

The idea started a few years ago, when my tank ruptured and flooded the entire basement. Along with paying to purchase and install a brand new water tank, I also had to deal with the expense and clean up of the water damage. The malfunctioning water tank destroyed my rug, a couch and some workout equipment. Once I started reading up on the subject, I discovered a lot of benefits to tankless water heating. One of the biggest advantages is the space savings. A tank is large, unattractive and cumbersome. It’s limited on where it can be located. A tankless option is about the size of a very small suitcase, mounts on the wall and can be installed inside or even outside. It frees up a lot of valuable basement space. While tankless heaters are more expensive than a tank-style model, they better accommodate replacement parts and last about twice as long. Plus, they are way more energy efficient. Rather than continually reheating water in a tank, the water is heated on-demand. When a faucet is activated, the water passes through a heat exchanger to provide instant and endless hot water. There is no waiting for the water to heat up and no running short. Because the water isn’t stored in a tank, it doesn’t absorb harmful minerals and contaminants, making it much cleaner. I like that the new tankless water heater allows me to set the temperature exactly to my preference and includes advanced safety features.
