My grandpa always told me that when you buy something, you get what you pay for. When I was a kid, I never had a clue what he was talking about. It just never made any sense to me. Now that I’m older, though, I can definitely see what Grandpa meant. The perfect example of this is when I had to buy a new air conditioning system last summer. The central air conditioning system that was previously in my house had completely conked out. I guess it was a really old air conditioning system, and I guess it had just run its course. When the A/C went out, it was in the middle of the summer. The temperature outside was in the high nineties that week and I can remember being just miserable in the heat. So instead of waiting around and trying to get a good quality HVAC technician out to my house to fix the A/C, I went with the quickest and cheapest HVAC company in town. They were able to come out super quickly because they didn’t have any other appointments lined up. I guess that should have been my first clue! The HVAC technicians didn’t charge me very much for fixing my air conditioning system. I think it’s because they didn’t really spend that much time on it! And I found out after I got the bill that it was because they didn’t really fix it! The A/C worked for a couple of weeks after they came to the house and then it quit on me again.
