Although it is only the end of July, the weather is already showing signs of cooling off and I know that it will soon be fall.
- I worry about whether or not we are ready for winter.
I know that our boiler is working well, but I always worry about the cost of fuel raising too high to be able to afford it. My husband recently had a heart attack and he isn’t able to go out and cut wood for the fireplace, like he did last year. I thought about buying a load of wood, but that needs to be cut and split. I can’t do the job, and neither can he. I called the HVAC company to get my boiler checked out because I knew that we needed a part last year. Since we do have a boiler system, we don’t need the regular yearly maintenance or the air filters that a furnace needs. My husband has always gone over the water pipes and some other components by himself. The HvAC company sent a young man out who went all over the boiler and told me it was in perfect condition. He asked if the fireplace had been cleaned and the chimney had been cleaned. I had no idea, because that was one of those things my husband did. He offered to come over on his day off and make sure the fireplace and the chimney had been cleaned. He said he would offer his help to my husband, but he wouldn’t take no. I’m glad our HVAC tech is also our son.
