I work at a tanning salon that’s right by the beach, however it can be a little controversial for people who frequent the beach to correctly tan indoors, but I suppose they love to even out their tan lines from their swimsuits… Working at a tanning salon has several strange nuances to deal with.
One thing that’s so necessary for us to have is air conditioner! The salon that I work at has over twenty strange tanning beds which occasionally all run at once, so an efficiently controlled Heating, Ventilation, & A/C is a non-negotiable.
The tanning beds get incredibly hot, so there has to be air conditioner hitting each room. Our air conditioner serviceman did a great job in fixing up the space to have common zoning control so that there are no tanning rooms that get too hot to where people might overheat as they are stepping outside of the bed. I’ve been to some tanning salons that have horrible zone control & have had people pass out while they are inside of the tanning bed. I’m so glad we’ve never had a ridiculous air conditioner issue because that just sounds love a lawsuit waiting to happen. Good quality zone control keeps everyone cheerful, including the employees, who need the air conditioner just as much as the buyers, if not more! During busy hours it can get so hot running back & forth cleaning tanning beds & checking in modern customers, and not to mention cleaning the spray tanning equipment in between customers. It’s a fun job with cool benefits, but it can get a bit ridiculous in there occasionally.
