Living overseas has opened my eyes to a lot of new ways of thinking.
I think it’s great for the brain, to put yourself in situations or places that aren’t familiar to you, making you use your mind even more.
We can get into a routine, a way of living, that doesn’t require much brain power to navigate through each day. I don’t like being in these kinds of ruts, which is the reason why I moved out of the states over six years ago. I’ve since then landed in a small Spanish beach town that is just the right size. They have these mini split a/c units that you can turn on with the remote control in each room. I think they are more energy efficient because they only allow you to cool or heat one room at a time. I’ve noticed the power bill consumption is much less here than compared to the states. It’s nice not having to cool or heat the whole house when you are only using one room for most of your time spent in the house. That’s another reason I left the states, because it just costs too much to live over there and it was robbing me of my freedom. I don’t spend all of my money on heating and cooling the whole house, which was way too big for just the two of us anyways. My HVAC friend told me that a lot of people are wasting a lot of money on heating and cooling the house, when all they needed to do was a few small changes to save them money.
