I’m really not the type of person that you would consider extroverted or friendly.
It’s not that I dislike other people, but I am rapidly exhausted by interacting with them. I do not know how other folks manage to uphold busy social lives day after day after day. I am worn out by other humans within moments of conversing with them. And this is why I was extremely worried about going on a work retreat with my co-workers. Especially when I found out we had to carpool. So began the most uncomfortable ride of my life… Partially because of the social environment and partially because of the indoor air temperature. As soon as I climbed into the car I realized that it was extremely drafty. Sitting next to the window, I was being blasted with cold air as we drove down the highway. I felt like there was no glass in the window with the amount of ice cold air that was passing over my body. I double checked several times that the indoor air quality control equipment was being utilized. Sure enough, the car had the heat cranking on blast. There was no way to get more high quality indoor heat into the vehicle. I also was firmly bundled with so many layers of clothing that I could barely move. Somehow, I was still freezing. I spent the entire trip trying not to complain about the poor indoor air quality control and air temperature management system. I also use my extra energy to contain my shivering to myself. If anyone heard me speak up on the entire drive, it was just my teeth chattering.
