The worst thing you could say to Randy on a stormy Friday afternoon is “Hello Randy, it’s me again…” Randy is the property manager at the office plaza I work in.
He stops by the office a couple of times a week to make sure the air conditioner is working properly, see if any light bulbs need replacing, stuff like that.
We usually chat about the weather and what we plan on doing over the weekend. Sometimes, Randy talks a little too much. Since I started this job, he has told me to keep an eye on the thermostat, and if the temperature inside and the set temperature is more than three degrees different, to give him a call immediately. I didn’t notice that the air conditioning was not working until a client said “is it warm in here?”. I ran over to the thermostat and it read 80 degrees and was set at 73! That’s when I knew I was in trouble. Per Randy’s request, I called immediately. He wasn’t even off the phone with me before he came walking up to my office! Lucky for me, he had an HVAC technician servicing the unit next door and was able to have my air conditioner blowing cold air in under ten minutes. I could not believe it, Randy had saved the day. To make this story more impressive, it was pouring down rain and the HVAC technician still got on the roof. In a warm climate in the middle of summer, this act performed by Randy was a godsend.
