Pregnant and Hot… Temperature Wise

The day Sam found out she was pregnant with a second child, she was thrilled.

Her first pregnancy was a breeze, so she had little concern for this one.

She experienced no morning sickness, extreme fatigue, or headaches like most pregnant women report. She delivered a healthy boy around Easter three years ago. There was one thing that was different about this pregnancy, and that was the time of year that it occurred. The new baby was due at the end of August. The future mother of two had friends who had gone through pregnancy during the summer months in a warm climate. The home they were renting was not very well insulated. Last Winter, they noticed a draft, even with the heating system on. During the Summer, the hot, humid air would seep through the cracks under the doors, causing their electric bill to be very high. She and her husband figured that this was the best time to go ahead and buy a home with a trustworthy air conditioner for their growing family. The couple started their house hunt soon after they found out they were pregnant. This woman was not going to suffer through a Summer pregnant without proper cooling! The house hunt was as smooth as her first pregnancy, but as the weather became warmer, she became more anxious to get into a home with a good cooling system. The couple ended up purchasing a home that needed a little HVAC repair. They were able to get an HVAC technician out to service the home before they moved in. The heat was so brutal that they decided to have a pool installed. Sam spent the last two months of her pregnancy floating in the pool and sleeping comfortably in her new properly air conditioned home.
