It was a Friday evening and as we do every Friday night, we were watching television and playing with the dog.
All of a sudden, we heard a thump.
I thought it was coming from the garage or the roof, but my boyfriend felt like there was someone in the house that evening. It wasn’t unheard of for cats to jump from the neighbors tree onto our roof. We went on with our evening. Soon after the thump, we heard police sirens and a helicopter. A few minutes later, we got a knock on the door. Our neighbor, Mike, has been murdered. The police had reason to believe that the suspect was in our air vents. They asked for the quickest way to access the HVAC unit. We were stunned to find that our neighbor has passed, but we cooperated with the police and led them to the air conditioning closet in our home. Sure enough, they found the suspect. When the police finally pulled him out of the vent, he was covered in dust. That night we had a police officer sit outside of our home for safety precautions. The next day, we both lay in bed wondering how the man managed to break into our home, find our air conditioner closet, and make his way up in the vents. Next, we thought about how dusty the suspect was once he was pulled detained, so we called out local HVAC technician and scheduled a prompt cleaning.
