Isn’t it incredible what you learn with time and hindsight? I have been blown over so many times in my life after having big epiphany moments that completely changed the way I had seen my world.
- I can’t tell you how many times I have had to admit that I was wrong or I was doing everything the worst way possible.
Sometimes, I have these realizations when it comes to other humans in my life as well. I try not to be super judgmental when I become aware of a glaring mistake that potentially changed the course of time. However, there is one area of life that I am rather paranoid about now that I found out my parents completely neglected it. The heating, cooling, and air quality control equipment in my house. I never thought that I would be someone who cared a lot about indoor air handling devices or air quality control. To be honest, I always used to adjust my thermostat and beat the crap out of my HVAC system. Other than that, I never gave a single thought to my air conditioning unit, forced air furnace, ductwork, or thermostat itself. Now, realizing that my parents never service our indoor air handling devices and it had a deleterious effect on my brother’s Health has changed my outlook on air quality control. When I was younger, everyone thought that my brother had terrible asthma. His respiratory symptoms were significant. With time and education, we finally realized that his respiratory ailments we’re not genetic, but caused by a supremely dirty heating and cooling system. The day that I discovered a mound of airborne contaminants blocking the ductwork in my family home is the day that I started caring about indoor air quality.
