Sometimes I feel like people take advantage of me and my kindness. Maybe I am just extremely gullible and easy to trick. However, I really try to be a good human and regularly find that it backfires on me. This is what happened a few weeks ago when I told my brother that I would be happy to house sit for him when he went on vacation. My big bro definitely deserves a nice, relaxing holiday so I was happy to lend him a hand when he mentioned dropping in and making sure the house was okay. I agreed to stay there for a week and he happily handed over the spare key. What he didn’t tell me was how much heating, cooling, and air quality control work I would be supervising during this house sitting event. The first day that I arrived at his house I was shocked when a heating and cooling work truck pulled into the driveway. You could imagine how surprised I was when they started carting large, energy efficient heating and cooling devices towards the garage. I called my brother and asked what was going on with his air quality control dealership. That’s when he mentioned that his heating and cooling system was being fully upgraded as long as he was out of town. Surely, I didn’t mind watching the HVAC technicians as they completed the installation of his new energy-efficient air conditioner and forced air furnace, right? For the next few days I tried to keep my cool as HVAC workers shuffled in and out of the house, installing brand-new air quality control devices like I could never afford myself. Thanks bro.
