Her Dad was getting underfoot, so Geri sent her parents to Europe.

In 2018, Gerry and his wife Maggie officially retired, and after a lifetime of working hard to support themselves and their family, Gerry took down the sign that said “Gerry’s Heating and A/C” plus Maggie turned in her resignation at the real estate office where she had worked for the last 15 years. They were so gleeful to just stay at home and not have to go to work; No more broken heating system calls in the middle of a blizzard. No more frantic funeral home directors needing air conditioning for funerals that were to start at 9:00 a.m. No more calls from their pastor seeking advice on what to do to save money on the heating and cooling costs at the church. No more teaching heating and air conditioner or refrigeration classes at the local vocational center. No more agreeing to take payments on invoices because the client is a little elderly lady on Social Security. They were so thrilled, until they weren’t. About four months into retirement, Gerry got hungry for something to do. All he could think of was go to Gery’s Heating and Cooling to see if his daughter needed any help with air conditioning system calls. Soon, he was showing up several days out of the week, answering the phone calls and talking to his old HVAC customers who had switched to his daughter’s business when he retired. It was a bit tiresome for Geri. Her Dad was getting underfoot. That’s when she obtained for her parents surprise tickets to Europe! They would soon be saying goodbye to the American heating and A/C world and going on a tour of Spain, Italy and France.
