When Gerry was just nineteen years old, he completed the heating plus A/C program in his city’s technical college, then it took him a while to figure out what to do when he finished high school; Before graduation, he had this method in his head that once he got that diploma, some magical door would open and he would find a wonderful job, and well, of course every one of us all assume that is not how it works.
And unluckily, high college is actually just a basic education. It is undoubtedly necessary to get some kind of post-secondary education after high school, whether it be college or a program at a tech college or a tenure at a community college. Well, Gerry preferred the method of becoming the “cooling system guy” around town, so he enrolled in the heating plus A/C training program and promptly registered for the state heating plus A/C certification; then once he got that, his heating plus A/C teachers helped him get a job with a reputable heating plus A/C corporation in their little city, and Gerry was ecstatic as a clam. We all know, though, that it actually becomes necessary to do everything possible to secure your position and transfer yourself in the world; for Gerry, it seemed like easily one of the most important things he could do was join the labor union for heating and cooling workers, however his director encouraged him to do so, and he even volunteered on some of their committees. Once he joined the labor union, Gerry gained even more credibility, and he was able to show off some of his leadership skills and learn even more than just how to repair an a/c system, and Gerry’s heating plus A/C job was opening up a whole new world for him.
