The older I get, the more distracted I get by loud noises.
I don’t know what it is, but the fact that I can’t keep my mind on one thing at a time is really starting to drive me crazy. It isn’t like I have a ton of things going on right now, since I’m working from home. I feel like I should be able to concentrate on what I’m doing and be very productive. However, that is just not the case with me lately. Last week, the temperature started dropping and the weather was really cooling off a lot outside. I decided that it was time to go ahead and turn on my furnace, even though usually I wait until a little bit later in the season to turn it on. Anyway, when I switched the thermostat over to the heating system and my furnace fired up, I noticed something different. Instead of just the whoosh and initial roar that the furnace usually makes when it starts up, now there is a weird ticking sound that accompanies the heat as it makes its way from my heating vents during the day. Let me just say that this ticking sound is driving me absolutely bonkers. Every time the furnace kicks on, I sit there at my desk and wait for the ticking to start. Then, inevitably, it does! I find myself getting so distracted by this ticking furnace that I keep losing my place at my work and I can’t even tell what I’m doing. I guess I’m going to have to break down and call the HVAC company to have them send someone over to investigate the ticking furnace. I just hope that it will be an easy fix.
