I worked in the HVAC company every summer.

From the time I was old enough to read numbers, my father had me working at the HVAC company every summer. He had me cleaning up for a while. I got to clean the bathrooms, the workroom, and the tool room. I then started doing inventory when I got big enough to reach all the shelves. I learned the difference between furnaces and air conditioning parts. After a short time, dad had me ordering parts and making sure we always had what we needed for the HVAC technicians to do their job. When I turned eighteen, I no longer wanted to work for the HVAC. I wanted to go to the local community college and take HVAC classes. I had been going on service calls with my dad for the last two years. I enjoyed watching people when we repaired their furnace or air conditioning units. I told dad I wanted to be an HVAC technician. I didn’t want to just work for his HVAC company, but I wanted to be a part of the HVAC company. The only way to be a part was to become an HVAC technician. I thanked him for helping me all these years, and he asked me if I had enough money to pay for classes. He had been paying me every time I was at the HVAC company, and he had paid me enough so I could be an HVAC technician when the time arrived to make a choice for my life. I told him I had more than enough money for HVAC classes and thanked him for always being in my corner.
