It has been very wet and rainy the last week or two.

I live in an area that is mostly carrot, garlic, and lettuce farms and low lying land. When one river or stream floods, all of them do at the same time. It can honestly be a lot for the city to manage. My house is right at 1,000 ft above sea level and we often have a mix of rain, ice, and snow. The temperature has been hovering around 35°, so we have had a lot of cold temperatures. I’ve had to run the furnace every single day for the past two weeks. I had a service tune-up performed back in September and now I am very thankful. I was going to skip the service because we had a mild winter last year. This year it has been one cold snap after the next. I’m probably going to need to fill the furnace with more fuel before the end of the season and that will be the first time I have had to do that in 10 years. I’ve run into a couple of additional problems due to the cold temps and the rain. During the storm we had last week, the roof started to leak. I was worried that the leak would eventually cause the roof to fall into the house, so I got the biggest tarp I could find and put it on the roof. I called a company to fix the problem the next day and the damage wasn’t severe.
