Damage to my HVAC unit from falling tree limb

Recently, I had a very costly HVAC repair call concerning my air conditioning system.

My condenser unit just outside my house had been struck by a massive falling tree branch during a storm.

The tree branch also took out the window that was nearby. It scared us all half to death to hear the horrible crashing sound that night during that violent storm, but we were glad that everyone was okay and no one was occupying that room at the time. Nonetheless, it was very expensive to repair that condenser unit that had taken the hit. I ended up paying several hundred dollars to make things right. Little did I know that my HVAC company was actually running a promotion at the time. The HVAC technician failed to mention the promotion. In fact, I didn’t even come to find out about the promotion until the next time I needed an HVAC service call. This time it was routine maintenance. It was one of the visits that I scheduled twice a year. When I asked what the HVAC technician was owed after he was finished with the inspection and the tweaking of my system, he said I owed him nothing at all. Apparently, because my service fee was in excess of $400 to fix the condenser unit I had qualified for a free service call! What a pleasant surprise! Still, if I had my way then I will certainly would not have had to deal with my condenser unit and window being damaged by the storm. Nonetheless, I was grateful to pay nothing on this latest service call.
