Where I live, there are always all these signs or flyers advertising some sort of handyman. And good for them. I like the idea of somebody being out there and hustling in order to be their own boss. That’s more courage than I have. I’m the sort who shows up every morning to work all day inside the commercial HVAC of an office. There was a time where I thought that I’d working for a corporation to get experience and then go out on my own. So I have a lot of respect for anyone who is doing that. As for me, I’ve become to accustomed to the zone controlled HVAC of the office to get out on my own. And, that steady paycheck is the main reason I can’t give up on working corporately. I have actually availed myself of some of the handyman services I see advertised all the time. I have projects inside and outside of the central air conditioning of my home that need attention. So I often pay to have someone take care of those projects. And I’d much rather pay someone who is local and independent than some brand name service provider. But that approach also only goes so far. When it comes to the heating and cooling equipment in my home, I only call the HVAC professionals. Unlike a handyman, the HVAC professionals guarantee their work. But more importantly, the HVAC technician is specifically trained to service heating and cooling equipment. They have to go through so much training to become a certified and licensed HVAC professional. And that’s the people I’m going to have working on something as essential as my heating and cooling equipment.
