When Geraldine finally got her shop under control and earning a profit, her dad and mom called her to come over for dinner. Never one to turn down her mom’s cooking, she went over that night. That is when they told her they were ready to retire and were trying to decide what to do about Gerry’s HVAC. They were thinking of selling to one of the a/c techs who wanted to give it a go. Geraldine was flabbergasted and could not believe they would want Gerry’s HVAC to be in the hands of a virtual stranger. Gerry and Margaret were shocked; they did not expect such an emotional reaction. After all, Geraldine had been running Gers’s Heating and Air Conditioning for years. Geraldne suggested that perhaps she should sell Geri’s and come back and run Gerry’s HVAC instead. That didn’t seem right, either. The three of them decided to call in some professional advisors to see what could be done. They called in a business consultant, and he proposed some ideas, and since he wasn’t in the family, he considered the idea of selling GErry’s HVAC without getting emotional. What they finally decided, though, was to merge Gerry’s HVAC with Geri’s Heating and Air Conditioning and open up a whole new, bigger, better heating and cooling shop. Everyone involved was happy with that idea, and they hired an attorney to make sure all the legal paperwork was handled properly. Soon, Gerry’s HVAC was gone, Geri’s Heating and Air Conditioning was gone, and Gerry’s Heating and Cooling was born. The names stayed very similar for tradition, but changed just enough to show that something new was happening in the city’s HVAC world.
