Gerry, who is now a woman in her 60s, was once just a young kid trying to make her way in the world; everyone has to decide the best way for them to gain a living and have the dignity that goes along with earning their way through life, and Gerry was entirely not the world’s greatest academic student in private school.
And after graduation she absolutely didn’t guess what to do with herself; then, one day, she remembered that one of her teachers had suggested to her that she thought about reading about a trade such as plumbing or heating and A/C.
Then since she was more interested in “being cool” than in “laboring in shit,” Gerry applied to the tech center’s heating and A/C course of study… Once she passed the state’s heating and A/C certification exam, she was able to land a job with a pretty great heating and cooling corporation; she worked hard for them and was a diligent employee. The heating and A/C clients all seemed to have a soft spot for Gerry, as well. They enjoyed it when she came to their homes to repair their oil gas furnaces and air conditioning systems. She was thoughtful and respectful and didn’t waste their time. She got right to laboring on the cooling system, and most of the time she could figure out what the problem was pretty quickly. The owners of the heating and A/C corporation took notice; Gerry joined the work union and met other heating and A/C workers around the state. They all took notice of Gerry, as well… As a result of her good reputation with other heating and A/C professionals and the heating and A/C clients, Gerry moved up the ladder and got additional responsibility and a few pay raises.
