When my husband and I were looking for a new home I had a few basic requirements.
I wanted a rather large backyard with a lot of trees.
I wanted big windows that would allow natural light to stream in throughout the day. I wanted a few outdoor hanging spaces so we could enjoy the nature all around us. And, lastly I wanted some kind of spare room that I could turn into a painting studio. For many years I have been trying to start an at-home art business. When we found a house with a separate studio space I was overjoyed. We immediately got the house and I got down to work… Until the summer season rolled around. You see, the indoor air temperature in my studio felt absolutely amazing in the winter when we viewed the house. There was a small heating system set up in the studio which allowed for accurate air temperature control in the small space. I enjoyed the miniature heating unit because it let me rapidly change the indoor air temperature and air quality on a whim. Doing so did not affect our Energy bill in any way. The problem all started as the outdoor air temperature started to increase. Suddenly, my painting studio was not very comfortable, so much as it was sweltering hot and oppressively humid. Obviously, the miniature heating system did not help. My paints were constantly drying up or developing strange colorations thanks to all the heat and humidity. I knew that I needed a real air conditioning system, because opening the windows was not cutting it. Eventually we found mini split ductless heating and cooling systems and had one installed. My painting studio is finally functional and I can breathe again.
