Roots damage ductwork

I am coming to the realization that the old oak tree is going to have to go

I didn’t know what to think when the central heater stopped working in the master bathroom. It was uncomfortable getting out of the shower in the morning. Finally I got a tiny little space heater that could sit on the hamper and keep me warm while I got ready for work. But a space heater in the bathroom is not safe. Then the central heater stopped working in my bedroom as well. That was when I decided that enough was enough. I called up the heater repair company. The heater company came out a few days later and found the root of the problem. There were roots growing into my ductwork. My ductwork is under my house. I never go under the house. There are spiders down there. So I had no idea that the oak tree in the yard was wreaking havoc under my house. I love that big old oak tree. I hope I don’t have to have it chopped down. But one thing at a time. First, I had the heater repair company clear all of the roots out of my ductwork. Some of the ductwork had to be replaced but some of the ductwork could just be cleaned and repaired. So now the central heater works in my master bathroom and my bedroom. I’m happy about that. However, the heater repair technicians said that my plumbing appeared to be under attack from the tree roots too. I am coming to the realization that the old oak tree is going to have to go. Either that, or I am going to have to constantly pay for repairs due to root damage.
